Heather Hunter

Homeroom Teacher

After several years in the corporate world following an extended period of travel, I found myself drawn to the realm of education and joined Wildwood Academy in 2005.  This institution has been more than a workplace; it’s been a sanctuary of learning and growth. Interacting with colleagues and a diverse array of students has been a continual source of enlightenment. My practice has been sculpted by the rich tapestry of life experiences, diligent research, and keen observation. Being a parent to a neurodiverse child has profoundly enriched my perspective, granting me a deeper understanding of the multifaceted challenges that individuals with diverse neurological profiles face. Through navigating the intricacies of parenting, I’ve gained insights that extend far beyond the realm of academia. Witnessing firsthand the unique strengths and hurdles of my child has fostered empathy and compassion, enhancing my ability to support not only my own child but also the diverse students I encounter at Wildwood Academy. This personal journey has instilled in me a commitment to fostering inclusive environments where every individual’s unique talents are celebrated and nurtured.
