My family founded Wildwood Academy in 2002 for my brother Jeffrey, who is on the Autism Spectrum. My Parents, Bud and Laurie, struggled to find the right educational environment for Jeff. They could not find a school that could provide the small class sizes and explicit instruction that he needed, and knew other families and students were experiencing the same challenges. They decided to open Wildwood Academy. I grew up around Wildwood, and have always felt connected to it. I attended Queen’s University for Psychology (focussing on Child Psychology), then completed my Masters of Teaching at OISE (University of Toronto). I am a Special Education Specialist with ABA training, and a multitude of experience helping children who need extra support in their learning. I began working full-time at Wildwood in 2015 as a classroom teacher, then transitioned to the role of administrator. I have now taken over my parents role and oversee the operations of the school as a Director. Since Wildwood began, I’ve seen the enormous impact Wildwood has on students and families. Wildwood truly is an amazing place, and working here is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I am also a Direct Instruction Coach, and oversee onboarding of new staff teaching them how to utilize our programming and support our students.
